Hortulani BioComposter is a microbiological compost starter formulated to accelerate the breakdown of organic matter in compost piles and bins. It contains a specialised blend of microorganisms capable of decomposing lignocellulose, enabling efficient transformation of garden waste, sawdust, chopped branches, leaves, untreated kitchen scraps, manure, and straw into high-quality compost. The process reduces weed seed germination and enhances microbial activity, converting organic nitrogen and carbon into plant-available forms. As decomposition begins, compost temperatures can rise to 60°C, signalling active biological processes. When the compost mass has reduced by 50%, is crumbly, and smells like fresh soil, it is ready to use as a soil improver.
- Accelerates composting of garden and kitchen waste
- Improves compost structure and microbial activity
- Reduces weed seed viability and unpleasant odours
- Safe for use in organic farming (EU Regulation No. 2021/1165)
- Also effective in odour control for dry toilets
Dosage:
500 g per 0.5 m³ of compostable material. Overuse does not harm plants, people, animals, or the environment, and does not lead to resistance.
Usage Instructions:
1. Choose a partially shaded location for your compost pile or use a ventilated bin.
2. Prepare the site or container and layer materials properly.
3. Alternate between green materials (rich in nitrogen: raw kitchen scraps, fresh grass, manure) and brown materials (rich in carbon: leaves, straw, dry garden waste) in a 1:2–3 ratio.
4. Sprinkle Hortulani BioComposter between each layer.
5. Maintain moisture and aeration throughout the process. Compost should feel like a wrung-out sponge—neither too dry nor too wet. Water or mix as needed to speed up decomposition.
6. Composting takes 2–12 months depending on material type, size, mixing frequency, moisture, and weather. Finished compost will be dark, fine, and smell like damp earth. Use as a soil improver, fertiliser, or mulch.
Storage Conditions:
Store between +3 °C and +27 °C. Shelf life of unopened packaging is 2 years from the production date (see packaging).
Safety and Handling:
Do not mix with chemical agents or use water containing fungicides or detergents. Effectiveness is enhanced by adequate moisture, warmth (+15 °C to +25 °C), and air. Safe for humans, animals, and the environment.
